A passionate advocate for strategy, corporate governance, and innovation, Al Sayed focuses on transforming how companies grow, adopt technology, and implement strategies to reach new markets and consumers.

Al Sayed has more than 20 years of cross-industry experience in telecoms, automotive, and banking. Most notably, she led the Market Intelligence, Strategic Projects Implementation, and the Bank’s Strategy Setting departments at the Arab African International Bank (AAIB) for over 14 years. During her tenure, she successfully implemented several technology and strategy-related projects across AAIB, playing a critical role in restructuring and advancing bank operations. A notable milestone was spearheading the organic growth of AAIB Financial Group and launching, in 2018, Sandah Micro Finance, a full-fledged greenfield microfinance company, supported by AAIB and SANAD Fund for MSME.

Currently, Al Sayed is the MD of EICONS Construction, a multifaceted construction and contracting firm. Dr. Merit Al Sayed joined ADCB-Egypt (Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank) as an Independent Non-Executive Director. She is also a member of AAIH (Arab African International Holding) – TELDA Fund Supervisory Committee. 

She also serves as a part-time lecturer in Economics, Strategic Management, and Leadership at the Egyptian Institute of Directors, the National Training Academy, and the Egyptian Banking Institute.

Al Sayed holds a PhD in International Business Administration from ISM Paris, an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, and a BA in Business Administration, Minor Economics (Dean’s Honor list) from the American University in Cairo and completed her Executive Education at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University in Chicago, U.S. During her career tenure, Al Sayed received numerous training courses and certificates from various international institutions, such as the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Moody’s Investors Services and Euromoney among others. She is an alumna of the Future Leaders Executive Program for the Egyptian Banking Institute and Central Bank of Egypt. In 2026, she completed the CEO Program at Singapore Management University.

Al Sayed has been selected as one of Egypt’s Top 50 Women, which, according to the independent platform, “recognizes women of influence who played a major role in advancing Egypt’s economic development”.
